Two Posts in One Week! Record!

Last night, I took my last final of my first Fall semester in grad school.  It still hasn't hit me that I'm actually done with a whole semester.  Only 3 and a summer left.  I will be the first person to say that grad school ain't easy.  Not even close.
Will it be worth it one day? Abso-dang-lutely.
Have I lost sleep because of it? Every night.
Have I missed opportunities because school came first? Constantly.
Will I change these things next semester? Absolutely not.
Does my bank account hate grad school as much as I love it? More than I can fathom.
Hopefully that will change soon though.

So, what have I been doing other than studying my ass off?
Well, car shopping.  I love my Charlie, but he's 10 years old and driving 40 miles one way twice a week isn't making him any older.
I think I've settled on the Camry.  Now, the hard part... the car dealerships.

I've also been playing a TON of violin.  Just to make a few extra dollars on the side.  Last weekend I played Handel's Messiah with 3 days notice and made $250.  This weekend, I have 3 cantatas, and will hopefully make $375.

Other than a ton of online shopping, just work, work, and more work.

I'm Gong Back To School!

Beginning July 1, 2013 I will officially be a Grad Student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte!

I'll be getting my Masters in Accounting and starting with a month-long class on Taxation of Estates, Gifts, and Trusts.  I am more than excited to start this journey and it has been a long time coming.

I knew the day I started my undergraduate journey I would be getting my Masters eventually.  I had it all planned out too.  I would finish my Bachelors a year early (which I did) and go straight into my Masters the next fall (which didn't happen).  I applied at UNC Charlotte and at NC State to do my Masters full-time in Fall 2012.  And, I got denied at both.  I was absolutely devastated.  That was when I applied to work at Disney.  And then I got sick and didn't go to Disney and started working at Holy Angels.  We all know the story.

Well a few months ago, I decided I could apply again and try to do it part-time.  I applied at UNC-Charlotte again, Gardner-Webb, and Auburn University's online program.  I was 100% positive I wouldn't get in at Charlotte, and probably wouldn't get in at Auburn, so Gardner-Webb was my fall back and really the only one I was expecting an acceptance to.

Gardner-Webb called on the 17th saying I got in to their MAcc program, and had already registered me for summer classes.  Auburn emailed the same night and said I was in there if I took two undergraduate classes and made A's in them.  I quickly took that one off the list, because I was already in at GWU without the conditional A's.  The 18th, I got an e-mail saying I was in at Charlotte too.  That's when I knew I had a tough decision to make.

In the end, I knew Charlotte was the school for me.  I had loved their program when I went to a preview day last year, and I think it will give me more opportunities for employment upon graduation.  I knew I had to follow my original dream and go to UNCC or I would regret it for years down the road.

I still haven't told GWU I'm not coming there.  I just tried to call, but the girl wasn't in her office.

Best News Ever!!!

Last week, I got the best news ever!!  I haven't shared it with all of you yet, because I needed time to process it on my own first.

Right now, I work 8:00-2:30, which is pretty darn perfect.  I loved it!  And on Tuesdays and Thursdays I go to the law office from 3:00-wheneverigetdone.  Usually around 6:30 or so.

Well, the law office is starting to stress me out.  I dread going, and I don't even know why.  I guess it's because it's just "busy work."  I just sit there and type these slips into a computer so they can bill at the end of the month.  It had nothing to do with the accounting side of it, and it was just getting extremely boring.  I was loving going to work at my big girl job though, so I know it's not just I don't like work.  I do like work, if it's what I'm qualified to do.  She also wasn't taking out taxes when she paid me, so it was really hurting me more than helping.

But, the thing that was holding me back from leaving the law office was that I love the people there, and they really do need and appreciate what I'm doing.

Well, by the Grace of God, I was presented with the perfect solution to all of my problems.  Holy Angels asked me to go full time starting next Monday.  I am more than thrilled, and can't wait to start this next step in my journey.

I am also applying to go back to grad school, so we'll see how motivated I am if I can work full time, and get my master's at the same time.  I'm pretty confident that it can be done.
