One thing that makes me mad...

This is going to be a 2 part post:
My every day in May post and a pet peeve.

I have been thinking about what I am good at doing all day.  I'm alright at quite a few things.

- I'm really good at rolling out of the bed at 7:12 and getting out the door looking really presentable by 7:35 and still making it to work on time.
- I'm pretty good at playing violin, or so I've been told.  I know what really good is so I don't think I'm all that great.
This was my senior year in high school.  I'm the red headed one on the left.

- I'm pretty great at forgiving people.  No matter what you've done to me in the past I'll always be there for you.

And now for part 2 of our scheduled programming:
Know what makes me mad?

When someone is in too much of a hurry.
This has been on my mind a lot this week, and I think it's because literally every day there has been either an accident or traffic on my way to and from work.
I drive to work on a major interstate, so there are no stop lights to try to beat or anything.
I used to think the sun would get in people's eyes as they went around a curve and they just slammed on their brakes which caused a chain reaction.
But, this year it's been accidents that have caused the traffic.

And, I'm not referring to the people in the accidents.  My heart and prayers are always with them.
I'm referring to the people who change lanes 20 times in a mile and a half because they think that one lane is going faster than another.  Honestly, we all get there at the same time.

Or, the people who come from the third lane all the way over in stand still traffic to try to get off.
Well, hate to tell ya but that road isn't much better.  Once you get over there you have to deal with the people and the stoplights.

I literally drive to work with the EXACT SAME people every morning, give or take a few.  By this point, they should know what happens on the interstate.  If it's that big of an issue leave ten minutes earlier.  It's just always on my mind.  These people aren't slowing down long enough to enjoy their lives.  They're just speeding through it like they do on the interstate every morning.

Except most people's driving already terrifies me.

Memories

Music City Sarah is doing a new series called Sweet Tea Social every Tuesday starting today.  The idea behind it is to get back to how things were when families would sit on the front porch with glasses of sweet tea and tell stories about their childhood.  I've got plenty of stories to tell, so I figured I'd do it along with her.

After I was born, my mom was starting to look at daycares so she could go back to work.  She never found one she just loved, and she was having a really hard time with it.  So, my Papa just said well bring her over here and I'll watch her.  So, that's what happened.  Every single day I went to Papa's house and stayed all day.  We did everything together.  He taught me how to walk, and he taught me how to pee in a bush standing up.  (I wasn't aware that girls didn't do that sort of thing till much later in life.)  When Ross came along, I was 3.  So, after he was born we both went over there all day.  When he was a baby, we didn't get in much trouble.  I would color all day.  And we would wait outside for the ice cream truck to come by so I could get a blue popsicle EVERY day.

After Ross got older, the trouble began.  It was around the time I went to school that Nana retired from the bank.  So, her and Papa both were at home with Ross all day while I went to school.  Papa would come get me from school, and that 's when the fun really started.  Me and Ross figured out that certain things would 1) make Nana really mad and 2) make Papa laugh hysterically cause Nana was mad.

We spent a few years perfecting our skills, and in the middle of all of that Payton came along.  Well, when Payton was little you could talk him into doing anything, so he was the perfect little brother to me and Ross.  Nana and Papa had a cherry tree in their back yard.  Nana was convinced that birds were eating her cherries so she had Papa cover it with a tarp so the birds couldn't get to it.  That tarp didn't stop me and the boys though.  We'd get under the tarp and just sit there and eat cherries all day long.  Nana still thought it was birds.  She tore the tree down because she thought it was still the birds, and I don't think we've told her it was us yet.

We would also sit in the bottom of her grandfather clock so that it wouldn't chime when it was supposed to.  She'd realize it didn't chime and come running to find out what was wrong.  And, she'd find one of us with our faces pressed up against the glass.

But, I think our best one was ALL Ross' idea.  Nana and Papa slept in separate bedrooms, because Papa had lung cancer and leukemia and would end up coughing all night and keep Nana up.  So, we spent most of our time in Papa's bedroom cause he didn't care if we messed it up as much as Nana did.  Ross came up with the idea that they should pour baby powder down the air vents.  He had Payton call Nana and then they all stood there looking at the air vent.  Nana was so confused.  Ross finally heard the heat kick on and said "Here it comes!"  Nana barely got "Here what comes?" out of her mouth before they were all covered in white baby powder after the cloud came up out of the vent.  I think that's the maddest I've ever seen Nana.  And Papa was just sitting in his chair laughing as hard as he could.  Those were the good old days, and I miss my Papa more than anyone else in this world.  But, I know he's having fun rocking babies in heaven.

I Can't Believe Wednesdays

I can't believe I woke up at 7:12, curled my hair, dressed, put makeup on, poured a Sundrop, grabbed a doughnut, and walked out the door by 7:33 (to a warm car too, because I have the best little brother anyone could ask for).

I can't believe I turn 22 in 2 days.  I'm really just practicing denial about the whole situation though.

I can't believe how much work I have to do now that I've gone full time.  When will I ever accomplish all of this?

I can't believe it's already 11:00 and I feel like I just got here and haven't done anything.

I can't believe my little brother is going to be doing the driving portion of driver's ed next week (Scary stuff right there!)

I can't believe it's almost April.  Sure doesn't feel like it outside.

Weekend Shenanigans

This weekend was the best weekend I had in awhile.

Friday:
Friday I got off early (1:30) and went to Kohls, Old Navy, and Target looking for the perfect shirt to wear to the GEORGE STRAIT concert.

I found this dress:

For $4 I might add.

And this precious bathing suit:

And a shirt for the concert that I didn't take a picture of.

So at 4:30 we leave for Greenville.  I was pumped.  George Strait is my man.  I am obsessed.  We got to Greenville around 5:30 and spent 45 minutes trying to decide where to eat.  We finally settled on a Mexican restaurant that wasn't anything special, but it worked.  We made it to the concert and our seats were SUPER close.  I mean like reach out and touch them.

Martina sang first, but she was sick so she only sang four songs.  Which was fine.  I like her, but she's not who I was there for.

Then came my man George:

This is how close we were.  I wasn't joking.

Ain't he just gorgeous?!

I had the time of my life!!

Saturday:
Saturday, I went to a birthday party for my cousin.  She turned 13, so it was quite the middle school party.  She had a bonfire, and Just Dance.  It was a fun night.

Sunday:
Sunday was a lazy day.  Church, my mawmaws, and a nap in the afternoon.  Perfect!

Ten Facts

I realize I've posted twice now in an hour, but if I don't post now I never will, because I'm about to actually have to start doing work at work.  Crazy idea, I know!

I'm also going to be participating in 30 Days of Blogging Prompts with Covered in Grace.

Day 1 is to share 10 facts about yourself:

1)  I'm naturally redheaded.  Always have been, always will be.
2)  I'm blind in one eye.  The right eye to be exact.  And, I rarely wear the contacts or glasses I need to wear to make sure it doesn't get any worse.
3)  I absolutely love my job.  I work the best hours in the whole wide world (8:00-2:30) which means I have time for a nap after work and before anything else starts.
4)  I have more than one best friend.  I have my bestfrienddd who has been there through it all.  Then I have my 12 year old cousin who is absolutely amazing, and I love spending time with her.  That girl knows all my secrets and can give advice like it's her job.
5)  I haven't told a single person in my real life about this blog.  I don't know why.  I wonder if it's because I feel like it's going to be like all social media in my life, and become a place where people silently stalk me just to know things about my life to use against me.
6)  I coach cheerleading at my church.  It's one of the highlights of my week.  My 5 little cheerleaders are precious, and always full of energy.
7)  I'm probably going to be a terrible wife for the first couple months of my marriage (although, at the moment we don't have a candidate for husband, so I guess it doesn't matter).  I am not a huge fan of cleaning, and I don't cook like ever.  I don't know if it's that I can't cook, I've just never really tried.
8)  I'd rather be at home in my yoga pants than out in real clothes any day of the week.
9)  I play violin.  I've been playing since I was 3 and a half so this year marks year 18.  I really don't play a lot right now.  My orchestra is trying to find a new director.  And, I was playing in church about once every three weeks but the organist at our church has his last Sunday this Sunday, and the choir director isn't really my biggest fan.  I played last Sunday though, and I got applause as well.  (Applause never happens in my church unless it's something really good.  We're very quiet churchgoers.)
10)  I secretly wish I hadn't graduated in three years, and I was still in college with all my friends for my senior year right now.  But, what's done is done and I'll thank myself for it later.  (Probably when I get my loan paid off.)

There's your 10 random facts.
